Liner Notes
John Hiatt - Demos II 1983-1985 - unknown cassette > cdr(0) > eac > cd wave > flac

I traded for this one, and as you will hear, these demos are definitely out there in better quality. Alas, no one has told me they have better quality on the part 1 stuff. Thanks for all the positive coments and the hundreds of d/l's. I hope you enjoyed that stuff as much as I did. Hiatt just has no clue sometimes what's good and what isn't.

Part 2 is a little more challenging, with some reggae experiments and unusual tempos that harken back to stuff like Falling Up. There's a blatant Waits attempt in Midwestern Town (aka Midwester). But you get the only studio version of The Real One without a dropout, which Marti and John Doe covered, a version of Love Gets Strange that can't touch Nick Lowe's cover, an early Ride Along, and a great version of Little Village's Inside Job.

All in all, a nice addition. There is another set of demos, but they date back to the early 80's and are obviously from the 'alcohol' days--not up to the songwriting standards of these two sets. I will try to get them up here, but that won't happen soon.
